William C. Slade

Reverend William C. Slade is a native of Burlington, North Carolina and is a Retired United States Army Veteran. 

     He holds a Master of Theology with an emphasis in Church Leadership from Grand Canyon University and is a member of the Alpha Chi Academic Honor Society; Master of Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude) from Touro University International, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Cum Laude) and an Associate of Arts in Business Management from Columbia College. Rev. Slade also has an Associate of Arts in Missile Munitions Technology (Magna Cum Laude) from Calhoun Community College. He is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Academic Honor Society. 

In 1992, Rev. Slade received his call into the ministry while attending the Ninth Hour AME Church, Copperas Cove, TX and was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the 10th Episcopal District. In 1993-1995, Rev. Slade was assigned to Baumhoulder, Germany, where he served as Youth Minister and Youth Sunday School Teacher at the Saint Michael Fellowship of Love Gospel Service (Military Chapel). While assigned in Germany, Rev. Slade served under the Leadership of LTC (Retired) Roger L. Armstead (AME Endorsed Chaplain).  

In 1995, Rev Slade’s military duties reassigned him to the state of Alabama, where he joined Gravitt Chapel AME Church in New Market, AL. In September 1996, with the passing of Gravitt Chapel’s pastor, the late Rev. King Daniel Snodgrass, Rev. Slade was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the 9th Episcopal District and received his first appointment at Gravitt Chapel AME Church.

In 1998, the military reassigned Rev. Slade to the U.S. Embassy in Manama, Bahrain, where he was able to attend services at the local Navy Chapel. He was also able to experience a variety of cultures as well as other religious practices.

Rev. Slade returned to Alabama in 2000 and later was reappointed to Gravitt Chapel AME Church where he served until November 2006.  

Rev Slade has also served as the Pastor of Livingston Chapel, Guntersville AL. (November 2006 – October 2009, May 2011 – October 2012); Parks Chapel, Dothan, AL (October 2009 – January 2011); Grady Madison AME Church, Madison, AL (October 2012- October 2015) and Hopewell AME Church, Florence, Alabama, AL (September 2021 – September 2022).  

In September 2022, Rev. Slade was re-assigned to Grady Madison AME church, Madison, AL where he humbly serves as pastor. 

Rev. Slade is also a member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Texas and Jurisdiction. In the 1980s and 1990s he was exalted/elevated and served diligently with the York Rites and Scottish Rite Masons. Rev. Slade is a Past Master of Jno G. Lewis Lodge #622, Copperas Cove, Texas; Past High Priest of Mt. Sinai Chapter #42, Copperas Cove Texas; Past District Deputy Grand High Priest, Past Grand Lecturer, Past Grand Scribe and Past Grand King in the Most Excellent Prince Hall Grand Chapter of Holy Royal Arch Masons Jurisdiction of Texas.

Rev. Slade is blessed to have Tamara L. Hill of Luverne, AL as his loving wife and partner in the ministry for more than 20 years. They have two children, Janae and Isaiah. Rev. Slade also has two older sons, William C. Slade II and Jonathan D. Slade, two grandsons, Xaiden K. Slade, Zacciah H. Slade and one granddaughter Xariyah J. Slade.
